Uploading Media Files

What types of media files can I upload?

Fliqz supports many types of video and audio file formats. For a complete list see What types of media files do you accept?

How do I upload media files to my account using the Control Panel?

The first step to adding a media file to your site is uploading it to your Fliqz Account. You can do this through the Control Panel or by using one of our uploaders.

Sign into your Fliqz account, click the Upload Icon and follow the instructions on the Upload page.

I’ve uploaded a media file, what next?

Once you’ve uploaded a media file to your Fliqz Account, the media file must be processed on the Fliqz servers so that the media file can be played in a video player. Once the media file is processed, you may embed and play the media file on your website.

What does Processing mean?

The status of “Processing” means that the uploaded media file is being converted to a format supported by the Fliqz player. The uploaded media file cannot be played until it is processed.

How long does it take to process a media file?

Depending on the length, type of the file and how busy the Fliqz application servers are, the Processing phase might take from several minutes to hours to finish.

What happens if my media file cannot be processed?

A status of “Broken” means that all attempts to process the uploaded media file have been unsuccessful. Fliqz accepts many types of media formats and up to 300 MB file size. In a few cases, certain combinations of media format and size might not be able to process. After the Fliqz application servers have made multiple unsuccessful attempts process a media file, then the file is said to be “Broken”.

How do I publish my content to search engines?

Fliqz employs Media RSS to publish your content. Media RSS is an extension of the popular RSS feed. The extended capabilities of MRSS allow us to include a thumbnail as well as other video related data in the feed. A feed is essentially a hyperlink that, when executed, generates a list of published “Articles”. In our case, these “Articles” are your video assets.

Fliqz supports submission of your Video feeds to Google and the AOL / Truveo search engines. Each feed has been optimized and formatted to fit the requirements of these Search Engines.

In order to ensure that everything exposed in published content points back to your site, we need to have two things in place beyond the default setup of your Fliqz account.

  1. Links to content must point to your domain and bring up the target video for view. We accomplish this with a Permalink setting.
  2. The feeds must also originate from your site domain. This can be accomplished via a Re-Direct of the feed URL from your site domain to the Fliqz URL that is provided to you via the control panel.

Click here [http://faq.fliqz.com/docs/PublishingYourContent.pdf] for more details on how to set up this feature.
