Fliqz online video related terms and descriptions

  • Ad-supported Packages (“Basic”) – Packages in which Fliqz serves advertising in lieu of subscription fees.


  • Advertising – Display of ad units within the Fliqz player. We support a broad range of ad types, platforms, and solutions.


  • Analytics – This is the Fliqz advanced reporting interface which features charting, longitudinal data, and drill-down.


  • Automute – Playback is muted by default when playback commences.


  • Autoplay – Playback begins immediately when the player loads.


  • Branding – Graphic elements that customize the look and feel of the video player.


  • Control Freeze – A mode of playback, typically used for advertising, in which the player controls are disabled during playback.


  • Custom End Screen – The graphic displayed on the player screen when playback completes. This can be a clickable logo or full-screen graphic.


  • Custom Start Screen – The graphic displayed on the player screen when the player first loads. This can be a clickable logo or a full-screen graphic (which will obscure any thumbnail).


  • Custom Watermark – A graphical image, typically transparent, that displays during playback, often in the lower right corner, and which generally is a clickable object linking to a URL.


  • Elapsed Time – The portion of a video that has completed playback.


  • Embed Code – A snippet of HTML which specifies a given player and a given video, enabling any user to repost that video anywhere HTML code is accepted. The snippet of code can have multiple various (such as “simple” and “full” and can use various techniques, such as “object”, “embed”, and “SWFObject”.


  • Fast Forward – Jumps playback 5 seconds forwards.


  • Flagging – A form of community-based moderation in which end users can indicate, or “flag”, content they believe to be inappropriate by checking a relevant category.


  • Full Screen Mode – A mode of playback in which the video expands to fill the screen.


  • Fully-customized Skinning – The ability to customize every aspect of the look, feel, and work flow of a given player.


  • Mouseover Description – Information displayed when the mouse “hovers” over the video, typically information about the video being played.


  • Multiple Players – An account can support multiple players within a single account, allowing the client to choose between different player options for different uses.


  • Multiple sites/domains – An account can display the same player(s) and videos across multiple domains.


  • Mute – Mutes the volume of video playback.


  • Pause – Suspends video playback.


  • Permalink – A URL which specifies a given page, a given player, and a given video, enabling any user to watch that video by pasting the link into the address bar of a browser.


  • Play – Initiates video playback.


  • Playlists – A selection of videos, generated by any one of a number of methods (such as most popular, most recent, most highly ranked, etc.) that is displayed either in the player or in proximity to the player. Clicking on any video in the playlist causes it to play in the player.


  • Premium Skins – A library of skins in different looks and feels that are specifically designed to work on the Fliqz player platform.


  • Ratings – A voting system, typically 5 stars, that allows end users to place votes and sites to tabulate aggregated results.


  • Replay – Restarts playback from the beginning of the video.


  • Reporting – This is the Fliqz basic reporting interface, which tracks activity (# of plays, # of shares, etc.).


  • Rewind – Jumps playback 5 seconds backwards.


  • Scrubber – A graphical marker that visually indicates the progress of video playback. Dragging the scrubber jumps playback to the point where the scrubber is released.


  • Self Serve Player Creator – A web-based tool that enables an end user to quickly and intuitively build a custom branded player.


  • Sharing – The ability to generate an email which invites a friend to watch a recommended video. It has several components: a) a form within the player which the sender fills out, and b) an HTML email which can be customized to match the brand of the customer.


  • Total Time – The total duration of a video.


  • Video Approval – A tool and process for manually allowing certain videos to be displayed while restricting others.


  • Volume control – Increases or decreases the volume of playback.


  • Widescreen Mode – A mode which supports formats wider than 4:3 (television format). Common widescreen modes include 13:9, 70MM, and Anamorphic Widescreen.
